White Mountain Trillium

Spent part of the day hiking toward a couple backcountry waterfalls, but got totally rained out in the end. Found a nice little gathering of trillium on the way though.

40d, Canon 100 2.8 at 5.6, a little Orton added for fun.

Hope you enjoy. Cheers!

Great job on the comp Scott. Love the way you've emphasized the symmetry in the plant with the square crop. Excellent detail and subject/ground separation as well. I also like the use of the Orton effect here - I'm guessing it masks some defects that would be visible otherwise. I might consider taking the bg a little darker but would need to see it to know for sure. That might change the mood and I like the mood of this very much as posted. Superb capture and presentation for my tastes.

Beautiful blossom with nice detail in the center. I am not sure I like the special effects.

Great picture of a hard to find flower (at least in my area--NE Pa). I like the softness on the leaves and BG. However, I would probably get rid of the silvery raindrops. Great detail on the center of the flower.

Scott: I'm green with envy; we don't have trillium in our part of the world. My thoughts echo Pat's. Exceptionally nice shot.>=))>

The centre is beautifully captured, Scott, and the flower nicely emphasised, I guess in part by the Orton effect. Good looking image !

Nice shot. We don't have this particular type of Trillium here in tne Pacific NW that I know of so this is very cool. :toast:
