Taken last fall after the rains came and found this mushroom growing in a crack in the bark of a pine tree.

Good choice for this challenge and a beautiful image. The color and textures of the pine bark and plants are splendid together and the light on the pale mushroom is wonderful. One little nit from me would be the oof white blob in the lrhc. I'd crop or clone it out. Other than that, stellar composition

It is just plain sloppiness on my part. Your absolutely right Nancy Lea. Did the snow melt today?

Nicely composed microscape, Charlie. Interesting variety of textures and colors. Well-seen.

I see that Nancy already commented on the little white thingy in the corner - and you've responded to her. I think we are sometimes so focused on an image - the composition, getting the colors right, careful processing, preparing the image for display, and selecting just the right shot to share - that we don't notice little things like that. And then when someone else points them out - or when we go back to look at the shot with a clearer mind - those little things are glaringly obvious. I know I've done that.

Anyway - this is great. The colors are really nice, and because everything is wet, the whole image seems to glow. I love the way that little mushroom is crowded into the small space. It's an interesting subject, and the unusual setting makes it even better. Really nice, Charlie! Love the title, too.

Glad you folks liked this as I always like, in the fall, checking out the trees for fungus and moss growth. They are like fairy landscapes.

And Varina I can't say what it is with me sometimes, I spend a lot of time on some aspects of an image only to miss some obvious need like this one. I could say it is age but that would be ignoring the times I did it in the past.
