OK class, your midweek pop quiz! What's this abstract of?

Was attracted to the formation of the stamens.

Canon 5D MkII 90mm T/S f16

This is the throat of a Gloxinia Bloom. It was back lit at time of capture with a little added flash from a led flash light to really accentuate the lime green at the base. There is also a slight vignette around the outside edges. Aslo some standard curves adjustment and sharpening.

Bob,

My initial thought was some sort of florescent sea creature but it's probably not. I sure it's not a white calla. Seems to have some orchid mottling but the structure isn't right. It's the structure that I don't recognize. I'm guessing your at macro range on this. Whatever it is, I like the composition and the neon color. It's a very striking image. Got my eyes open this morning.

It's a Giant Kraken emerging from its lair as seen by Timothy Leary.
No, really. It looks like an orchid around the edges but the stamen are wrong. You got me. I have no idea.

All I know is that it's the inside of something. :) But it's very pretty colors and curves.

Whatever it is it sure is eye-catching! Wonderful color mixture and interesting details on this flower. Is it in the orchid family?

Bob, I believe this is a very rare flower called Bobensis Ramaneria - at least that is what my book says  . Now that we have this quiz out of the way, I really love the photo - specially the lighting which adds to the mystery mood. Pin sharp and great DOF.

The colors are amazing, In the 60-70's you could have sold this as a black light poster! The inner glow is very cool.

Hi Bob :wavey: Glad to be back :jump: The backlighting gives it a sense of mystery, the gaudy colors and lines really capture our attention  Marvelous :toast:

That's wild, Bob. Very creative and unusual, to say the least.

I love the velvety look to the area below the stamens. The color is very wild. Very interesting shot - and I have no clue what it is - so I am going to go read below...

Oops...just missed the name of the flower above. Still very cool.

Wow, great colors and lighting. Glad I didn't venture a guess, since I had no clue (I was thinking alien sea monster). The detail is amazing! :toast:

Hmmm.... I think I detect a little tongue in cheek from Ram so I won't bite. Looks like a variant of a passion flower although I've not seen one exactly like this. Psychedelic colors and a great shot.>=))>

I'm a little late to the party here. Don't know why I missed this when it was first posted but this is very cool and unusual. I really like the stamens and the florescent green base. Great detail and color. Nice presentation too.
