During the start of my New Zealand workshop, the group was treated to a whole afternoon of awesome light, culminating in this snow storm sweeping through the surrounding mountain ranges near Queenstown.

Ouch! I was thinking and planning but now I have to actually, finally go to NZ Kah. Really nice photo! The colour of that soft cloud is really enchanting and indeed seems falling. The only tiny things that I would bring is a slight distortion on the lake and blueish fringe on the right BG mountain. Nevertheless, I really like the light in your photo Kah. FG, the rocks then reflection of that cloud on the water is really beautiful.

Kah, such power and mystery in those clouds and light, all enhanced by your framing and dark exposure. Enchanting. I'd echo Tom's suggestion about the lake curvature.

well controlled exposure, with the glow on the falling snow. sky is dramatic. bottom 2/3 seems slightly weighted to right. but these are minor nits in a wonderful image.

Dear Kah,

First of all I will write (as always) what I'm thinking about frame: I know this photo well... many times I come back to this... and really I don't know what to say. Clouds looks awesome however foreground looks dull and dark... is not my taste... sorry.

Regards
Sebastian

Incredible capture Kah, those are some amazing conditions. I might consider cropping off a tad from the bottom, the real drama is in the bg... Great stuff.

What a dramatic sky. i love this a lot. My only minor nit is the slight distortion on the lake. The dark exposure fits the scene very well.

I'd be tempted to clone out some of those sticks...

Oh man this is sweet Kah Kit! The clouds are really magical in appearance - this must have been extraordinary to view in person. Excellent capture.

Perfect title, great shot. The storm against the peaks is very impressive and the color is phenomenal. Some of the foreground sticks are a tad unruly but I don't particularly mind them or feel that a crop would work an improvement.

Well that light doesnt suck. ha! FG isnt really doing it for me...probably would have preferred a more simple one with one or two rocks and not branches. Epic conditions. Nice :)

My comments echo Aaron's exactly - awesome light, awesome background, good processing. Only change would have been to walk in and just use the couple of misty rocks as my foreground.

Very nice Kah Kit. I like the strong theatrical element to the stormy skies. The slightly messy fg adds to this theme very well. Sure is awesome light!
