Magnolia stellata 2011

This was one ofthe first bloom this year from my Magnolia stellata tree. Got it before the ravages of rain and wind that usually beset this trees blooms. This tree makes a magnificent show in the garden but individual blooms usually get some form of blemish which makes shots of individual blooms a challenge.

Stunning capture Bob, the composition, clarity and whites are top shelf in my opinion. Well done.

Beautiful whites in this Bob and I also like the placement of the subject in the frame with extra space on the viewer's right. On my MacBook the stem looks a little dark. I might either bring the brightness up on it or clone it out and the possibly re-position the bloom to center in the space. Regardless, it's a very fine image and your lighting is superb.

Beautiful bloom Bob! I like the comp and POV, and the light is just right. Very good details and, as Mike said, very good flow from the petals. Double toast! :toast: :toast:

Bob:
I find Magnolia a real challenge to photograph. The petals gets damage and blemishes easily and blooms on the tree is an additional problem.
This bloom is nicely preserved. Like how the center is nicely shown. A very strong composition.
