"The Morning After"

While on my SW trip, A huge late spring winter storm hit Utah, I was in Page when it was forecasted for later that day. I was hoping to get to a high enough location in elevation to capitalize on some snow! With some advice from Marc A, I headed for the Bryce Canyon area. The storm lasted for almost 2 days. Unfortunately the storm cleared in the Red Rock area around 11:00am, so there were no "magical light" opportunities, but I did like this scene even through the light was HARSH!! It took a while to process this image properly to balance the light

I have a few more sunrise shots in Bryce Canyon the next day after the storm as well, I still have to process them.

This is not Gallery material, but I still like it

Any comments are welcome!

I like the image, but I find the lens distortion on the trees a bit distracting.

Sebastian, This is a single image, I did adjustments to it in PS to balance the Harsh light in the scene, no HDR software used.

Scott, I can see your point since I used my 14-24mm lens. I just posted the image, since there was the fresh snow in the area of Red Rock, I would say that this image is not one of my best images from my trip, but worth still worth posting .

Wonderful, James. I like the sunny mood and the powerful blues up in the sky. I even like the distortion as is sucks you into the centered composition here.

A very good shot from my perspective. The exposure feels well balanced and actually quite natural to me given the harsh light you were dealing with.

Sebastian, I agree, it is not as strong of an image as my last few postings, I said that in my description of the image

But I am in agreement with Andreas & Phil, that it looks balanced for the amount of sunlight present, and I like the lens distortion in how it sucks you into the scene. Personally it was a very beautiful place to be after a snowstorm, with the contrasting "reds" against the snow. I tried my best with the conditions I had

I have another abstract dune image I will post next I hope you like

Thank you Sebastian, I appreciate the compliment

I have some more image from my Southwest trip, but having computer issues with my PC, running PS 4. I am very happy to say that I am moving to a new MAC platform with PS 5, in several weeks!! This will allow me to process images faster with less computer crashes
