All Ron B's wonderful Snail Kites recently enticed me to look back for my kites from a couple years ago for unprocessed shots.
I was not lucky enough to catch one with a snail, but like this "kiting" pose. The "kiting" (hover) can allow a few seconds for a good shot. .

Really a wonderful shot Sandy. Great action and the BG is super. The detail and sharpness on the bird are top-notch. The only thing that would make this better would be a nice look at the eye, oh, and as you stated, a snail in the talons. Very well done.

Wonderful action Sandy. As an alternative title perhaps "full flaps" would work.

No snail, but two bands! I like the positions of the wings, the spread tail, and the crispness of the shot. BG is very nice too.

Wonderful light, great wingspread and background, Sandy. The larger version is very sharp and provides an excellent look at this beautiful kite. A little more eye contact would have made this perfect, but a great image as it is.

Sandy, this is a fab image. The bird's hover pose,wings out and full of detail against a stunning bg. One thing though, I think you could easily lighten the eye and that shadow over it.
