Hoh Rainforest

Here's an image that I shot in February, a few miles into the Hoh. I just re-processed this image with a few new techniques I have learned, and feel that I'm much happier with it than I previously was.

I'm excited to get back out to the Olympic rainforests later this week!

Comments and critique appreciated as always. Thanks for looking.

I am also in the process of putting new themed galleries on my website. Feel free to take a look!

Very cool location - I like the chaos here. That said, I'd prefer to not have the relatively bright background just to the left of the main tree.

Looking forward to seeing more.

well done for trying to get some order out of the melee of plants here. the colours are a touch saturated to my eye?!? but there's some harmony to the composition that i'm enjoying.

This is nice. Complex, but with enough sense of layers that it all separates.

Man, I'd love to visit the Hoh one day - so otherworldly. Beautiful variey of shapes and colors. I'm a little torn on the downed tree as it seems to cut the image into two distinct slices.

Very nice Alex. I will be in Hoh next week and would love to capture something as nice as this. The fog in the background adds to the drama!

This does look much better than the previous version. I love how you brought out the remnants of the fall leaves - those reds really stand out now and make the photo.

great detail and greens!! i could see an alternative version w/ a crop from the right to further push the tree off center, to make it look a bit more deliberate. Good work. It's always fun to rework old images with new techniques.

A shot from the Hoh where everythings wet, imagine that! I like the hanging moss on the tree and the red leaves. The ferns on the ground are a nice feature as well.

A delightful composition in what looks like a difficult place to photograph. Love the lush wildness about this.

Love the wonderful lines of the maples tree, the mist in the background, and the lushness of the ferns. Color is superb. Whatever new techniques you are employing, they sure are working well as this is really outstanding, Alex. Have a great time at the Hoh this week.
