#482:How it happened?

Hi all,

After another long dive into my archives for the WC, I decided this fits the topic.

This very large boulder is found on top of a rocky mesa without anything remotely similar nearby. The rock is more than 3 meters high (about 10 feet).

A theory is that it was shaped in an almost perfect egg shape by the wind and rain over millions and millions of years and then fell from a mountain that was later eroded to nothing but a mesa.

The place contains rocks from the Tandilia System that are more than 2000 years old (yes, two thousand million years old!) one of the oldest rock formations on earth showing the reminds of what once was a system higher than the himalayas.

Well it's out of place isn't it?

Luis (Large version available!)

PS: Sorry for the long write-up!

Are you sure this is not an "egg" on "Easter Island"?

Well if that's an egg I really (don't) want to know what is inside!
