Wilson's Warbler
by Robert Holguin
Hello everyone. While out the other day I spotted a group of these little guys. A real pain to photograph not just cause they dont sit still but I never knew a yellow bird would be so hard to expose. Hope you enjoy. C&C welcomed and encouraged.
Exposure - 1/640, Aperture - F8, ISO - 320, Metering - Spot, Aperture Priority.

9 commentsGreat job with the exposure, nice head turn and eye contact, and the blue BG complements the yellow bird. I agree with the suggestions about cropping. Where (which state? general area?) did you see the Wilson's?
David - I photographed this bird at a place called Rio Bosque Wetlands in El Paso, Tx. It's a real nice place with lots of different species to photograph. The park is pretty much dry during the summer but during irrigation season its full of water.
Pretty nice job on a tough exposure customer. I'm with Kurt on the composition. I would crop an 8x10 and remove all or most of the lower branch making the bird less centered and removing lots of the clutter in the bottom portion of this image. He's looking up so I would want more room at the top of the image than the bottom. You got a nice head turn and some catch light in the eye and he's pretty sharp. Now you know, reds and yellows can be blown just as easily as whites. Great job on this one Robert.
