I found this guy out at the end of the pier here at Safety Harbor this past March. I got there just in time to notice him coming in. He got so close, almost too close with the 2x but got a crab for me, posed and went back out into the gulf.I remembered to say Thank you! Perfect timing for me.

Looks good, Cheryl. Good DOF, nice water, good catchlight and eye color, Techs are OK. I assume you were shooting from the pier and didn't have the option of a lower angle (which would have made this good shot better).

A nice look at this loon. Just molting into its breeding colors. Angle looks good to me. Always nice to get prey in the bill.

Nice low angle. Like the drops of water falling off the bill.

Good low angle offers a wonderful POV. Prey and water droplets from the bill are a nice bonus .

Wonderful capture Cheryl, definitely worth while checking out the larger version; the eye, the wet feathers, the crab and those beautifully caught droplets of water really brings this picture to life :^)

So you thank your subjects too huh?!? :^) I can't but help express my appreciation whenever I feel it, even if my subjects have no inclination of what I mean ... I know you do though, so I'll thank you for sharing this one with us ;^)

I agree, looks like perfect timing for both you & the Loon!
The drops suspended in space below the bill add nicely..along with that tasty treat of course :)
Well done, hope you get your gear back sooner rather than later :wavey:
