Crying Black Tears

Mother Earth is in pain and she cries shedding black tears.

Black teardrop shape found on Bean Hollow Beach among the Tafoni. It caught my attention immediately while I was scouting around. I rushed back to my car to get my gear hoping no one would come by and disturb it as there were many people around with their dogs. Luckily I returned and it was still as I had left it.

I processed the RAW file to accentuate the blackness of the tear. I have this on 4x5 as well and I cant wait to get it back.

A very interesting shot. I've seen these black growths on aspen but I'm not sure what they are. I like this composition, a bit mysterious. Wonderful detail in the different textures.

Very cool patterns, textures and colors. I like this a lot, a fine abstract. Good luck with the 4x5 version.

Very interesting Youssef. For me, this is about light and contrast, and pretty darn perfect processing. I know the teardrop is the main subject, but I find myself more atrracted to the brighter rocks surroundng the teardrop. For me, the black tear is a superb complement and counterpoint to the surrounding rocks. This would look so good printed large and on Breathing Color Lyve canvas. One of your best IMO - right up there near the top!

I really like the comp and subject matter here Youssef. Bean Hollow sure is full of possibilities, and I like that you focused on the small details. Nice work.
