My first real try at a composite image with a night sky, this was taken in Cappadocia, Turkey where the rock formations are heavely eroded to give all sorts of shapes and sizes, making it an area fit for a photographers dream!

One shot at sunset for the superb glow on the rocks, and one an hour later for the stars. We had to almost run back through the (very) dark canyon to catch our ride back but it was worth it!

7d, 30 sec for the stars & another exposure for the rocks

Hi Jorne,
I really like it and I think you did a great job here! The color of the sky and the rocks are great, love the light and the stars. It works for me, but I'm just a beginner, so am interested to hear what the others have to say :-) Well done! :toast:

By the way? Any rock climbing in this area?

I like the light in between the shadows on top and bottom. Really pleasing scene.

Beautifully captures the mystery of Cappadocia, much better than anything I did last October. I find the rapid transition from dark to lighter blue a bit distracting, but maybe that's the way you actually found it.

I love the minimalism of this shot Jorne. It is just pure color and form. Lovely processing too. Very impressive work.

Wonderful! Ordinarily a blend like this wouldn't work for me (that is, sun and stars together), but here it just looks like it was light painted.. so in that sense it comes across naturally IMO. Great work!

Very nice! I would not expect this concept to work, but it does here. I see some slight halo'ing I would correct along the rock near the middle before I sent it off to print. Well done.

This qualifies as surrealism in my book, making the obviously unnatural combination of sunlight and stars look as though it is real. I enjoy the image a great deal.
