Hare portrait

One from yesterday morning, a Brown Hare that came a little too close. I'm not normally a fan of cut off body shots, but I was shooting this handsome chap through a farm gate, and one of the OOF rungs was running through the lower part of his body, so I'd like to know if this one works?, not quite sure about the eye placement.

1/160th @ f4 iso1000 ( FF cropped to portrait )

Thanks for the feedback on my last post and thanks for looking.

Andy, the look of surprise in the hare's eye is so magnetic, I don't think it matters much where you place it. I think this is well balanced, with good detail and perfect DOF. The poor beast looks as if someone just goosed him!

Andy
I reckon a really tight vertical crop on the head would have more impact. Still better than any Hare shot I have !

Pretty damn stunning man. Not sure about losing the foot.

The eye is stunning, and I think the composition works although I agree with Neil about the need for the whole foot.

Thanks for the critique guys.

Hi Neil and David, unfortunately the OOF gate was covering the foot, hence the reason to exclude it.

Hello Andy.

Just fine as is for me and I'm not bothered about the foot.

Love the composition with the body coming from the bottom left, and the detail in the eye and whiskers is excellent, and for me that what this is image is about.

I like this as it is. The face is fantastic and there is a natural line leading from the foot, through the neck and ears.
