This "back yard" challenge allows for another view of Erythronium Hendersonii from our wooded side yard. This one I took inside to allow some control that I couldn't achieve lying on my back. I would appreciate comments as to the whites in this. Are they in your opinions a bit hot?

They don't look hot to me Charlei. I think you've nailed it. Beautiful flower!

Well, you probably want it to be brighter than the background, so I think it is ok. I have no problem with it on my monitor. I have photographed this species on Table Mountain down by Medford, Oregon. When I saw this, I thought, "I know where he hails from." I wish I had fawn lilies in my yard. I do have a few trilliums. The focus on the lowest petal is much better than the upper petals. I enjoyed seeing an old friend, botanically.

Charlie, the exposure looks perfect to me.
Lovely flower, nice perspective and detail, and good comp.

Thanks, Walt, RL and Sandy. I find in reading critiques of a lot of different images that sometimes is is said that the whites are blown and to me with my monitor it doesn't look like it. Therefore... Thanks for your opinions on this one. It is to my sdjustment what I liked.

Yes RL this Fawn Lily is only seen in these few counties of southern Oregon and very northern Calif..I haven't looked up the moth you have posted today but since we are in the same state it my be one I'll see. Soon I hope. I love that red head.

The best way to be sure about your white is to check your histogram. If you see a peak up against the right side, you are losing details in your highlights. If you want to see detail in the bright white areas, you don't want to see that peak. This looks just right to me. The colors are gorgeous, and I love the very subtle details. Gorgeous!

Thanks for that info Varina. I assume that goes for any specific color. if there is a peak it is oversaturated? So many seemingly small things I've never paid attention to before. Probably most importantly is that I never cared until it was pointed out for many things I took as just the way it is and now learning that it is not to difficult to correct. It is all about seeing isn't it.
