Mount Cook, New Zealand

From a magical evening at the foot of Australasia's tallest mountain. It also served as a good illustration for my blog post earlier this week about preserving the mystery and mystique behind landscape photography.

Absolutely stunning. I'd like to know the tech specs - is this a blend? I love the blue water.

Fantastic image, Kah Kit, I love the way you have it and I could also go with a slightly darker sky to accentuate stars.

My eye is pulled a little bit too much downward in this comp. I'd crop a little from the bottom but otherwise looks very nice. Don't get many clear nights around here I'd figure.

Beautiful shot..I would see if you can add a little selective sharpening to make the stars pop out a bit more, but the scene is exceptionally composed. Nice work.

Nice one here kah! Looks cold to me and also looks like you were standing in the water... New Zealand looks like a great place for photos.

It's a common composition and I don't like this particular execution. The light is weird and the water color is too blue compared with the light on the mountains. It feels strange.

Great shot Kah Kit! I do however agree with Marc. I find the bottom of the frame to be very "heavy" and I too would crop off a little bit off the bottom.

Gorgeous image! I loved it when I saw it on your blog and love seeing it here, too. Definitely a great illustration of the mystery, mystique... and romance of nature photography

Hi Kah,

I hope you had a good Easter. I think the top half looks great, the sky and and light on the mountains is fanastic. The bottom half I find rather uninspiring. For my tastes, the shutter speed on the water seems too long, the water is overly cyan (I prefer a more neutral grey), and the composition there is a bit empty. Of course, just my humble opinion. Overall, still very sweet work.

Gorgeous shot Kah Kit - I might crop just a little off the bottom, but nothing major. A really sweet shot.

Cool comp and light, Kah Kit. The contrast between the blurry water and the textured rocks makes is almost as good as having the stars in this. Nice all around.

I actually thought you had a mid-day shot from the thumbnail, Dang thumbnails. So deceiving they are.
Seems like everything came together nicely for you here.
Wonderful work

Wow! Really nice comp and overall scene. I Hope to try something like this if I can ever get a faster camera, with better iso capabilities. This is moonlight???

This looks incredible Kah, the composition is excellent. The light and colour work for me and the sprinkling of stars top this off beautifully.

Gary.

The light on the mountains is incredible. I think the sky goes very well with the blueish water. But I would also suggest a crop from the bottom.

Another vote for a crop from the bottom. The peak on the far left seems a bit bright for being moonlit, how much of the moon was illuminated? An exceptional shot nonetheless. :toast:
