Approaching Storm

In between family vacations I had a few hours to get out and take some pictures. I checked the tide, hoping it would be less than 1' or more than 4', since I have spots scouted for those tides. 2.5', right in the middle of nowhere, so I headed to the closest beach, Torrey Pines. It turned out to be a really nice evening. The "cold" weather kept this popular beach pretty empty, and rain was falling over the ocean for more than an hour. This was one of the last images from that night.

Not much to do in photoshop other than increasing contrast a little bit, burning the upper left corner and correcting the awful distortion the 24-105 has at 24mm.

Man, that's a serious downpour. The blue mood fits the turbulent weather.

Ominous, for sure. I like the comp with a lot of lightly textured water in the foreground.

Wow! Simple yet very, very effective William. Subtle FG, eyes are drawn naturally to the brightest part of the capture which surrounds that spectacular rain. I love it William. Very moody!

WOW! :toast: One of the coolest images I've seen in a long time. Simple, yet composed perfectly with that downpour on the upper right third. I could see this printed HUGE and hanging in a dimly-lit room.

This is a very beautiful shot! Excellent choice of composition and shutter speed. It's great to see such an atmospheric shot from here in San Diego. We're not normally known for that. :-)
