patient life

if you happen to be one of these plants, poking up through the lava deserts in northern kenya, you've got to be patient. one year in many, the rain will fall and you have a brief window - to bud, gather enough energy to flower, seed and then go dormant once again for the next few years. This one is waiting: the rains didn't come this year.

thanks, as ever, for looking - i appreciate that my photography, not filled with The Big Dramatic Landscape as it is, is not for everyone! Let me know your thoughts.

mamiya 7ii, 43mm, delta 100 b&w film.

Stuart, great impact from this photo even without the story, even more so with the story.

Lovely tones and contrast. It's amazing how resilient nature is - thanks for sharing the story behind this scene. Very nice.

Wonderful silvery tones Stuart. I also like the contrasts as well as your story. Beautiful B&W.

I enjoy looking at this, Stuart. Very well done, and seen, and I like the comp you used. Wonderful detail and texture in this too. I also very much enjoyed your story about this plant. Great title...Nice work!
