A fire scarred (perhaps, lightning-scarred) coast redwood in the Lady Bird Johnson Grove in Redwoods NP. 3 image HDR processed in Nik HDR Efex Pro. Trying to keep things as tame as possible and still take advantage of greater detail available through the processing. The images were shot at f/16 at 8 sec., 2.2 sec., & 0.8 sec. Canon EOS 5D MkII; 24mm; ISO 100; 24-105 f/4L; tripod, remote trigger. Thanks, in advance, for your valuable feedback.

Love the placement of the vanishing point Craig. Strong composition for my tastes all around. Interesting textures throughout. My only nit is the pale sky and I wish it was a little darker or maybe bluer. A very fine image for my tastes.

Craig, you did a very good job with your HDR processing as it doesn't look like an HDR image at all (and that's the way I like HDR images). Nice perspective looking up and up and up the damaged side of the treet.

Your results are really appealing, Craig, if a little bit dizzying. I love the tree trunk and I also really like the greens.

Craig,

The detail on the trunk especially on the larger image is amazing, and this straight up perspective is difficult to pull off but phenomenal when done correctly. Hard to capture the massiveness and the height in an image, but you pulled ti off. Just one small nit but it doesn't take away from the overall image is the RH tree seems a little soft.

I usually don't like the appearance of HDR images but this works well. Excellent POV. Lady Bird is a great place to photograph....
