Long Eared Owl

The whole family was enchanted for a week as we observed two long eared owls in Captiva the last week of March. The was taken at sunrise (7am) with my nikon d330s, using a nikkor 150-500mm lens. ISO set at 320, focal length 400mm, f/8, 1/120.
It was very windy and the bird was very high in the tree.
Any comments suggestions are appreciated.

Sue,
This one has his eyes on you. Would you look at those claws...WOW. Looks like you had a tough angle to try and get a clean shot Sue. The pine needle that is just to the right of his eye is a little distracting but it sounds like you had a good time for a week with these guys. Thanks for sharing.

For the conditions you describe I think this is great. Wonderful eye contact.

I love the detail and the light on him Sue, I also like how you managed to frame the face between the needles of the pine. I really like this one with the beautiful natural environment. I think this is a keeper,, big time. :toast:

Nice light on the owl and I like the settinig Sue. The face seems slightly soft to my eye.
