This is a katydid nymph looking into a wild day lily that grows along our creek. I think they are quite interesting looking bugs and I also like the color contrast of the green bug with the orange flower.

Canon Rebel T1i. 90mm macro lens at F/10 for 1/20 sec. ISO 400.

Comments/critiques welcomed.

Spectacular shot, Carolyn! I agree totally with your own comments. The bug looks jewel-like with the quality of light on the dazzling green.

Amazing color in the nymph and a great find on an orange flower. For me, it's a signal that summer is winding down when I hear the katydids singing in the evening. This is the first time I've seen what a nymph looks like.

Carolyn,

The way you have composed the shot is excellent. To me, it tells a story, this little katydid nymph is on a journey to the center of the Day Lily--the pedal he is on looks like a beautiful road. Detail and color are fantastic! Great Job!

I love these bugs. It's a great pov of him "entering the flower".

I wish his antenna and legs weren't cut off - it makes the crop feel too tight. The image is fantastic overall... especially the gorgeous colors.
