One of my favorite small mammals. Always glad to see them in the spring.

Very nice sharpness on the squirrel. The detail in the fur is excellent, I didn't realize there were spots in between the lines! On my monitor it looks like you could warm the color balance just a little. Getting down on your belly for a lower angle would be an option here.

Real cute little character John :^)
As Gary suggests, catching this from a lower perspective might have added further appeal to this image, of course depending on what lay beyond it, and perhaps having pulled in some on your zoom would have afforded the opportunity to see it's tail in full.

Hi John,
I'm with Gary in liking the detail captured on the back of this squirrel. Too bad the squirrel didn't cooperate and draw in its tail a little for you! Like Gary I think a slight warming of the WB might add to the appeal of this image.
Cheers...

What an incredibly beautiful squirrel John! Not hard to see why this would be one of your favorite mammals. The chosen shooting angle does give a good view of its nicely patterned back, yet I feel a lower angle would have resulted in a more powerful image. With small mammals especially, getting down to eye level generally results in a stronger image. Also inclusion of the tail in this case would have been an improvement. Thanks for sharing this beauty.

I always try to get low with the little guys and would have maybe preferred that here. Exposure seems a tad dark but what an interesting little squirrel.

Hi everyone, thanks for your comments, but I need to explain getting low is something I don't do anymore. I can get down, its the getting back up that is a problem. Actually the getting low is not too graceful either. Also I was shooting this through a window. Now that I know he/she is back and the weather cooperates I can wait for the squirrel in the backyard. Thanks again for your comments.

These are tiny little guys and I wish we had some scale to demonstrate that. You did a fine job with the exposure. I, too, think a lower angle if achievable would be better and I miss the tip of that tail!
