Here is another take on my scene from the other day. I placed the horizon in a more "traditional" spot here, and also included the setting sun.

Blend of 3 images using blue channel masking.

All critique most welcome!!

Techs:
Canon 7D with 10-22mm USM
f16 @ ISO-100

Really nice composition. Great sky. Also interesting the way the color in the field of flowers at the right in a line that mirrors the cloud edge.

Traditional--but very nice! An interesting mix of colorsin the field (where is this, incidentally?) The brightest hihglites on the clouds at right are on the verge of being blown, but it looks pretty natural to me so no big deal.

thank you Craig and Stan.

Stan, this is actually in South Africa of all places. On our high-lying "Highveld" region, we get into a "cosmos season" every March, in which an otherwise mundane landscape is transformed into these seemingly endless stretches of colour.

Very powerful clouds and the field of flowers is something too. I find the grass on the right to be a bit of a weak spot here as it's in conflict with the otherwise flawless carpet of blossoms. Maybe cropping a little from the right might be an option.

Gorgeous color and a pretty sky. The blank area in the LRC is a little bothersome; I wish you could have moved over to the left a little more. Still, a pretty scene.

thanks Andreas & Bill

go back a few shots in the gallery - I posted a version with nothing but flowers in the terrestrial part of the composition.
I wish I could just have composed like I wanted to but I was on the edge of the fence of private land with my tripod straddling the fence, and didn't want to enter the farm land with my person :frown:

cropping here would remove the sun - which is what I tried to include here in the first place

Very nice shot. I really like the sky and where you placed the horizon. Best regards, Andrei :toast:

What a marvelous field of flowers! I would love to see a composition that focused less on the sky and more on the flowers.
