Silent Forest, Yosemite

This is an older image that I decided to rework to improve contrast and the color of the leaves. I used TK's Luminosity masks on the original scan file.

This has all the elements of a great intimate landscape, from mood to composition. Makes me feel like I'm actually there. Great photography!

The leaf colors really pop and the trunks lead me right into the forest. Nicely done

The color really pops, but what rally atttracts me is the slightly littered (with leaves) ground. I love how the golden brown ground contrasts against the rocks. Beautiful work.

Very well done, Preston. I am with Bill, the open space in the foreground and the contrasts of the color make this one for me.

You are getting some mileage out of that Symmar!

This is beautiful Preston. The color just jumps out of the screen. I also like the contrast between the colorful leaves and the dark trunks and rocks.

The two-tone leafs are totally engaging, Preston, and the level of detail, even in the JPEG, is excellent. Nicely done all around.

Thanks for your comments, everyone!

I thought I would note that I did not make any adjustments to the saturation in this image. As I work more with Tony's luminosity masks, and carefully adjust curves or levels on the masked layers, I am finding that I use saturation adjustment layers less, and less. These masks are incredibly powerful!

Very nice intimate landscape! I love simple forest scenes like this that make you feel present. The green and yellow leaves make an already nice composition even more appealing. Good work dealing with the tree on the right- it anchors and adds to the the image.

Btw we met a while back, maybe a couple years now, at our place in Groveland. Don't know if you remember, but thought I would say hello.
