Hi,
I overlooked this initially because I thought I'd made a poor compositional choice by not including all of the reflection. Truth is, I can't get the whole thing in the frame horizontally. I wish I would have done a vertical pan and captured two frames to stitch. But after processing, I kind of like it anyway. What do you think? I know I have not been commenting as much as usual, please don't hold it against me. I'll be back in the swing soon, promise!

Works okay for me, Chris. Colors are nice and the composition has a complete reflection of the mid-ground evergreen and a bowed sapling which reminds me of a big brother is watching eye. Curious as to where this is. The lowland has the look of Yosemite but the mountain remind me more of Castle Crags north of Redding.

Hey Peter,

Thanks! Yosemite it is. Only about ten or so steps from the car along the Northside Drive in the valley. It's one of the iconic spots, but I always wanted a shot from here. I suppose you can conclude by now, I have no qualms about shooting icons anyway.

I like it as-is, Chris. The inclusion of the full tree on the left helps convey the scale of the scene. Very beautiful.

Well composed scene. Doesn't need the full reflection to work in my opinion. Like the tension between the monolith and the snow covered tree.

Wait, no fresh snow clinging to the trees?? This can't be one of yours, Chris  Well balanced image, very nice. The large version looks soft, but I'm sure this is just due to compression. Nice work.

Real purty, Chris! comp works for me. Looks like some slight barrel distortion that might be worth correcting.

I don't mind the lack of reflection.. actually, I find that in cases like this including the full reflection makes it seem a little too cliche. I love the cool blue tone to this.

Love the clarity and pristine feeling. Classical Yosemite! And I agree with Floris - avoiding the cliche works well here for me.

I think this works quite well compositionally (and otherwise). It's certainly an appealing scene and the lack of a reflection does not bother me. Why the title . . . is there some historical tidbit behind it?

Wonderful shot Chris. The reflections works for me, nice calm morning. No suggestions. In a few weeks this area will have alot of snow melt. Hope to see ya then.

This is really nice Chris but you have set the bar very high with your recent Yosemite posts.

There is definitely enough here to hold my interest even without the full reflection. The uniqueness of the peaks (at least I don't recall having seen a photo of these peaks or at least from this perspective) in combination with the frosted conditions make this stand out. It gives a sense of calmness.
