477 Reflecting on the Night

Taken on a December evening a little over 8 years ago. It was a crisp cold night and you could hear the crunching of the fresh ice as it flowed down the river. The moon was covered with thin clouds which toned it down enough to make the shot feasible yet it was still bright enough to reflect off of the frozen river bed.

Sony DSC-F707, ISO-100, f2.0, 1 sec.

I love the wonderful glowing light on the mountains. The blue seems a little strong - but I like the composition and the soft light. Lovely!

This is an arresting image. The moonlight on the river is the thing that jumps out and that is excellent. More subtle are the lighting levels scattered around the frame. The left hand side seems to draw me a lot more than the right which is about all that I can find to be negative about. I like the light, medium, and dark snowy peaks.

Nice! The large photo works better, because I think some of the detail in the foregound is lost in the smaller photo.
