Forster Tern

It was exciting this past Thursday and Friday for me. The terns are returning to Bolsa Chica Eco Reserve, Ca. I started photographing birds last May and in June I first went to Bolsa Chica. I loved watching and shooting the terns. Hopefully my skills have improved enough to do these beautiful birds justice. The Forster Terns were flying around carrying a fish and showing them off. Great behavior. I liked this pose even though I had to crop it to 50% of original.

Comments are appreciated.

Nice shot Harry, I like the pose that you captured which works very well with the vertical crop. Nice job on the exposure.

Very nice Harry! The straight-edged lines all ending in sharp points are very appealing to me :^)

Superb pose and composition here Harry, just love the way the wings reach for the corners of the frame!

Nice capture Harry. I like the wing positing and the open bill. If you have more to either side, I would be inclined to add some back so that visually there is enough room on the sides for the down stroke of the wing to pass without hitting the edges. That is just a personal preference.

These birds are fast and very erratic, so this is really quite a catch. I like the open mouth and crossed tail.

Excellent shot - simple but effective with the clear background and lines of wings/beak/tail. :toast:

Harry,
Great capture. Have not seen this pose before. Very unique image. Love the tail that's crossed (a little embarassed I guess) and the screeming nature of the open beak. You can even see the tongue. You even got some catchlight in the eyes. I like this one Harry. One of your best so far. By the way, nice seeing you yesterday. Hope you got some good captures. :toast: :toast:

Nice lines and positioning in the frame. I like the almost monohcrome effect with the bright mouth that jumps at you.

A really appealling image Harry. Love the comp, techs are spot on and the open bill is great as well. I like that you left room at the bottom, given the intense downward gaze of the tern.
