Tis the season around here. babies all over the place. Here I found this family of Mottled Ducklings. I dedicate this one To Ron Belefield since I know he loves these ducks. Aren't they the cutest? I was shooting the parents when surprisingly one little head emerged after another thru the grass reeds. I was ecstatic to see them. I am very interested in your comments on the crop. I cropped pan to avoid the OOF grass embankment as I really wanted to include the ducklings at the right because I feel they complete the story of the image. I have also included the original full frame that has only been slightly cropped for a very small rotation. My ISO was set high because for the most part they were in the grassy reeds. Any comments or critique welcome. Thanks

Charming image Cheryl, she certainly has enough of them to keep her busy. I'd say it's definitely better without the grass embankment in the foreground, but I could also do without the three OOF ducklings on the right, but since you like them you did right by keeping them. I'd say it's a personal preferece thing. :toast:

Cheryl - charming! Nothing cuter than little baby ducklings!
I like the OOF 3 re-joining their sibs, but without the OOF near bank.

However!
As an alternative crop - try just the mom and babies with that great water and reflections. This week's WC is "11" and if you can do a quick crop and get it in by midnight your time - you have 11 ducks and a perfect WC entry. (Or of you want to count that little bit of a head that is surely another little duckling right in front of mom's breast) - you have 11 babies.

Great shot!

Very nice image. The color, comp.and dof are very good. I like the first image better. The grass in the second one is very distracting. I to am ambivalent about the three ducklings on the right. I think personally think I might like the image better without them. It is a good image either way.

What an endearing image Cheryl! The Beautiful light perfectly compliments the these cute little characters as do the ripples in the water. I also think you're choice of crop is spot on :^)

Oh, and thanks - by way of you posting this image and Sandy's recommendation - to you both, for bringing my attention to the Weekly Challenge Gallery ;^)

Hope you're all having a great weekend :^)

Very nice family portrait- Great light and beautiful color palette- I'd try a composition without the OOF ducklings on the right side- Well done, Fabio

Good all the way around Cheryl. I prefer the comp of your more paneled version to the full frame.
