Elephant calf ...learning to raise the dust.
It was still learning to use the trunk, as a result, it was just throwing the dust in the air.
Thank you so much for your kind attention & views!

Jagdeep ...do you live with them  you seem to be getting so many nice images of these elephants ...and I go to places like Bandipur and get to see some of them at about a focal length of 2000mm. Well done .. a very nice and intimate image ..

Nice sharp image with good detail in the larger version. Good timing to get this and nice job getting the elephant calf in good focus with the elephant on the left. Well done.

Spot on for all the technicals and the action is wonderful. Great behavior. My only wish would be for a little more room. They feel cramped.

Hi Jagdeep,

Your elephant images are always captivating! I like the simple colour palette and the detail on the elephants. To my eye the elephant on the left side of the frame dominates this image a little too much and, by its scale and clarity, draws attention away from the young one and its efforts to learn how to use that unique appendage. For me it also makes the image feel a little "cramped". But bear in mind the collective quality of your previous elephant posts has raised the bar so much that it's now easy to be overly critical of a shot that would otherwise be thought of as a stunner!

Cheers...thanks for sharing this one...

Hi Jagdeep, would agree, the focus is very much is on the playful calf blowing dust in the air, but your eyes are drawn to the larger elephant to the left sadly. Might suggest cropping the rear leg right on the edge, to the RHS as it really isn't doing anything and I think it gives a cleaner look? You could also increase your ISO to help SS, especially with the 500.

Ever thought of converting this to B/W?

Although the composition appears a little tight, it hardly detracts any attention at all from that wonderful young Elephant obviously having a ball playing with that dirt ;^) Real pleasure to look at Jagdeep :^)
