No Sign Of Spring Yet !

Lensbaby shot .I know there are not a lot of fans of Lensbaby shots but for now I really needed my rose coloured and slightly out of focus glasses on , seeing as Spring is not in much of a hurry to arrive in my area ,I am still stuck with what ever I can scrounge from the local shops for inspiration! Hopeful the snow will soon melt and I can find inspiration outside . Honestly I am sick of photographing white stuff so have had very little to post lately. Six months of snow is starting to get on my nerves!!!! We still have three feet of the stuff in my yard and it has still been snowing everyday this last week !!! Will it ever end??? I know we moved from the warm coast so no more threat of earthquakes or tsunami, but really did not expect to be living in the middle of the next ice age!!! O.K. rant over!! Miss you all,and I will try to do better and post more often ! Cheers and Happy Spring

Love it Lorna. Reminds me that soft soft soft can be wonderful. I've never played with a lensbaby, but this tempts me.

Lorna: I'm kind of ambivalent regarding lensbaby shots. I've certainly chosen several over the years for Weekly Picks but a lot of comps look contrived and don't work for me. This one works pretty well for me with regard to the two in focus anthers but I'm not so sure of the FG petal. The BG softness is wonderful. I think all in all the FG petal is a bit too dominant but I do like the color palette. >=))>

I like the color palette in this Lorna and the composition. Also the plane of focus works well for me. This is a beautiful image for my tastes.

I've never played with a lensbaby but plan to at some point. Seems to me like a fairly inexpensive way to get some tilt and shift experience without the heavy expense. When I think of lb images, I think of Cindy Mead's and hers are some of my favorite images. I haven't looked at her work recently but she used to have a lb gallery at Woodsong Nature Photography that was exceptional.

Lorna,

This is simply beautiful! Your composition is great and the pastel colors are very pleasing. What I have seen recently in this gallery encourages me to experiment with a lens baby. Looks fun!

I like everything about this image with, with the exception of the foreground petal Lorna. The softness and the POF work well for me.

Just where are you these days Lorna? Sounds like winter still has a grip on you...:frown:

I like this shot overall. The color and softness work well together. My only problem are the petals)?) that are coming in from the bottom of the photo and obscure some of the main bloom.

Thanks Nathan, a few minor health issues but feeling much better these day's. I shot this one this way as it felt as though the flower was crossing it's petals over it's heart kind of like in a promise, It took it as a promise of springs soon arrival ! Thanks for the feedback,Cheers

Happy Spring, Lorna. You've succeeded quite well in capturing spring colors. Nice job with softness. The foreground petal is a bit distracting IMO.

Cheers,

Lorna:
Have no experience with LB but looks like you have some potential converts - may try this some time in the future but don't know when. I like the softness and the color palette here.
