After the Rain

This image was taken as the sun broke through the clouds after a heavy rain storm and illuminated the rain-soaked trees. I was immediately captured by the way the drops of water sparkled in the light, and was able to quickly compose this shot before the clouds covered the sun again and the magic was gone.

Girraween National Park, Queensland.

Nikon D80, 18-200 VR lens, f/5.6, 1/15sec.

Many thanks for your C&C :wavey:

David, I think this is beautiful. I'm trying to figure out was it taken through glass?

I think I would like to see this in a color version. Seems a little 'busy' for b&w to be effective. I do think you managed to catch the sparkle, seems like a magical moment.

Thanks guys for your comments. Barbara, it wasn't taken through glass, just the lens.
I also tried a color version, but it wasn't working like I wanted. B&W created that canvas look I was after just based on graphical elements of tone and texture. B&W also helped it move a little away from reality and towards representing a feeling rather than a documentary with traditional landscape 'rules'.
