Bald Eagle Fishing

A lot of time spent shooting eagles over the past couple of years. The unatainable holy grail to date has been to capture one in on a fish run coming towards the camera within reasonable range. This is the closest I've come to success to date. Clipped a wingtip on the capture. Edited to remove the opposite wing for balance.

What a magnificent image Dan, really socks me in the eye, so to speak :^) Bit difficult to see all the detail in a picture this size, but it all looks wonderfully sharp too. Wishing you the best of luck in your ongoing quest to capture one with a fish in it's talons flying right atcha' ;^)

Cheers!

Fantastic shot. I actually like the clipped wings - it makes the bird look even closer. There's some motion blur in the talons, but I don't think this is an issue - the "important parts" of the bird are sharp. Great looking photo.

fantastic. even at this size it seems it is exceptionally sharp. At first sight i thought "if only he got all the wings in it..." but after a while i made up my mind: it seems closer and huger. i love it.

Great image, Dan. I have also been working on eagles and other birds in flight- nothing close to this yet. Great job.

Thanks for all the kind comments. I'm relativelly new to bird photography. This image is an example of the old theory of keep shooting until you hit something
