White Squirrel

As I pulled into my driveway (after an unsuccessful early morning landscape shoot) I saw this white squirrel running around my yard. I thought it was beautiful how the white of its coat contrasted with long grass so I quickly got my camera out, got out of my car and laid on the ground hoping I that I could get a head on shot. I cropped the photo about 15 percent in order to get the squirrel more off centre . Aside from that there was a little dodging and burning with no other manipulation. Nikon D700. ISO 800. 70-200mm F2.8 at 1/125. Manual Mode .Spot Metering. Thanks for looking and your comments are welcome.

Very cool! I saw a black squirrel today, it was crazy. I like the contrast between the dark background and the white squirrel!

This is different! The attempt to go low was a great idea. The contrast against all the dark tones is quite effective.

I really love this image, Andrei, but would have liked to see a little more of its face. :toast:

That is awesome! Wonderful subject and perspective. You managed to get a very strong contrast which works just perfectly here. It seems to me that it does lack a little bit of sharpness on the eyes. Maybe that can be still fixed

Very nice eye-catching and very unique image Andrei, and getting down to eye-level was an excellent move :^)

Kind regards,

What Luck !!! I like the low angle and the blurred FG & BG and the sharpness of the face. Lesson well learn - Never put your camera equipment completely away until after you get into the house  Paul

I like the way the dark areas set off the white squirrel. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Andrei,

Wow - a really, really unique shot. Good use of contrast in light AND in focus to make this one stand out. Composition works well for me and I'm totally fine with seeing only this much of the squirrel.

Very cool - like this one a lot...thanks for sharing it!

Congrats on the EP. I love the contrast in this photo as it exemplifies the scarcity of the white squirrel IMHO.
