When I saw this image after I got home and put it on the computer the first thing I thought of was that the water that was kicked up by a very ticked off trout looked like a vase. Don't know if you agree but that is what inspired the title of this post. It is a very heavy crop so I don't know how this image is going to hold up at very small resolution. This cormorant was probably 100 yards away when he came to the surface with a really angry trout in his jaws. The water kicked up by the trout is my favorite part of this image. The facinating thing is that these cormorants can swallow a 12 inch trout in about 2 seconds. I can rarely click off more than 2 or 3 images after sighting these occurances. Usually they are too far off in the distance but this one turned out better than most of my cormy shots. Hope you enjoy. This one is a little different from most cormy posts. Please let me know what you think. There is a larger version as well. Thanks for viewing.

Great title. I like the way the splash gets soft towards the top. It would make a great vase for a Lily with Easter coming up. The cormy, fish and splash make this image for me. Great capture.

The title is suits perfectly the image. that wave is very interesting even if, IMO, it hides the bill and the fish a little too much. Surely an action shot very well painted.

Great capture! the water 'vase' is crystal clear and the dof is excellent for the action in the image. A very enjoyable and interesting image.

Very cool image, David. I like the comp and how it includes that towering wall of water that we can see through. Nice work.

This must have been tack sharp to begin with, because it's very sharp even at this crop. I really like the action, and the light is great.

The water column makes the shot for me David and since we can still see the fish and bill through the water I don't find that to be an issue. Very interesting action.

What a great moment to capture David - well done. There appears to be enough detail in the larger image that you may even get away with more of a crop.

cheers

Great action! The heavy crop isn't affecting the detail much at all.
Nice angle to get the eye of the cormy, the fish, and the "vase" of water.

I think it's pretty cool and not an image you get every day.
