Thaw!

This is what March looks like where I live. It's nice to hear the sound of babbling brooks when the snow starts melting. With daytime thawing and night freezes, ice dams and water levels rising and falling, Nature creates some interesting ice sculptures.

These type of ice sculptures always capture my attention. I like the ice covered log as well. I don't know if slightly darkening the background rocks would help the ice stand out or not.

There are amazing details in the ice, really beautiful! Maybe a selective depth of field might help to separate these interesting ice structures from the background. Thanks for sharing.

We're expecting record temperatures here tomorrow--8 degrees plus, im not ready for all this ghastly warm weather!
What an unusual an appealing 'sculpture', Wayne! Did you try to get any shots that isolated the subject more?? It probably would be difficult with all the rocks etc surrounding it, but worth snapping a few tendons, i think

Thanks folks,
STAN: I did get some more "concentrated" shots of other formations, but not this one. Yep, it was pretty challenging footing. Getting more cautious in my "advanced" years, and the strong current was vibrating my tripod on some of the closer set-ups.
I know you will have fun with ANY weather.

That looks so cool! I love the shapes, and all the ice on the tree looks so neat!

I love the alien ice forms here Wayne! I like the two layers of ice globes with feet. Great find!

Very cool (pun intended). I love the sense of dancing ice figures. It seems a bit over sharpened, but still a wonderful image.
