Ahhhh, one of my favorite prairie activities was watching thunderstorms roll in. That's a very dramatic gust front, yet the rain behind it doesn't seem so intense. The light on the foreground grasses and wheat is very nice, but seems a bit bright given the conditions.

Doug: One must really look at the large version on this shot. Spectacular scene and a terrific capture. >=))>

Doug,

I really like this shot and the way the line squall echoes the shapes of the grasses. I've seen variations on this scene often, as have, I am sure, many others here, and that semi-brightness in the foreground can be there, so it works for me.

Wonderful Doug - great patterns in the f/g grasses both in terms of texture and colour and those stormy clouds are super - I like the slight brightness in the f/g too and it doesn't seem too much to me.

Thanks folks. In reality, the sky was about 1 stop brighter than the fg. I darkened both a little for mood. The storm was there to the west, but the rest of the sky was bright, scattered clouds, so there was plenty of light on the field.

Wonderful shapes and color Doug. I just love that ominous, angry sky! The detail in the larger view is delightful. Excellent capture.

This is awesome Doug. Nice job with the blend. What really draws me into this image is the "C" shape created by the edge of the storm. The details in the foreground grains are icing on the cake. Well done.

Wow. Just wow. Very powerful. Also, very nice job on the subtle v-shape you captured in the foreground. It's such an understated element, yet so important to the flow of the image.

Wow, nice storm shot, Doug. I like this one better than the other one. That sure is a mothership of a storm. Good job with the blend. I like the strong V shape of the fg which leads out to the expanse of the storm really well and echos the cloud shape. Very nice.

great comp here. I love the angled lines in the grass in the fg. Amazing dram up top too with that storm cloud and I always love seeing rain in the sky. Really nice control here too.

I love this image! It looks exactly like what I remember seeing so many times while growing up in NW Montana (but east of the divide, like here). This image really resonates with me. Big congrats on the 1st HM Doug.
