Leaves In Rain

This is an older image that I resurrected from my archive. I have worked several versions over the years and was never quite satisfied. So, armed with a fresh scan, a modified workflow and TK's luminosity and saturation masks, along with a slight 'glow' layer, I believe I have succeeded in my mission.

The shot was made somewhere on Bishop Creek in the Sierra, ca. 2003, on 6x4.5cm Astia film with my Mamiya 645E and 80mm Mamiya lens. It has been cropped a bit from the bottom and left side.

Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated.

Lovely shot Preston. I love the great variety of colors in this and the water droplets are a big plus. This would really go beautiful printed large and framed.

Sweeeet!! Nice comp Preston!! I see many more images within the image itself. It's too bad you could not have gotten in tighter on some of those leaves and droplets.

What I really like in your image is the color combination. Those are not only the usual fall colors (at least not in Sweden) only but also some bluish colors and I find that very appealing.
When I wrote the above sentence I realized that yellow and blue are actually the swedish colors ;-)
However, a really nice image!

What a beautiful collection of colors. I like the contrast between the warm and cool, saturated and unsaturated. And those water drops pull everything together. Nice!

Couldn't have said it any better than Tony. This is magnificent! No nits whatsoever. Makes me wonder what past versions looked like.

Phenomenal, Preston. Love the mix of colors, and the luminosity you achieved of the leaves is wonderful. The raindrops and that glow make this truly a stunning image that I can imagine will make one incredible print. You have most definitely succeeded in your mission. Don't see how this could be any better.

Very beautiful and wonderfully intimate, Preston. Something about the processing (perhaps the glow you used) lends a very "nostalgic" feel to this, which I like. This is really, really nice.
