Grey Crowned Crane (Balearica regulorum) in Lewa Conservancy, Kenya

As the last light of the day disappeared after the sun had set, there were still a few moments where one could see...And I saw a flock of cranes settling on a dead tree...they looked ready to take off again so, pressing my lens deep into the bean bag, I took this long shutter speed shot of one of them taking off...

Converted to high contrast B/W and added toning.

I really like this Ingrid. It reminds of a Japanese line painting. One thing i can't decide is whether a smidgeon should be shaved off the top and right sides of the frame. I like it regardless of that though.

I think this would fit as photo as art better. The bird is a little to much of a blur to me, but it certainly has an artistic look to it,

This image holds a lot of appeal to me Ingrid, as what I really aspire to with my wildlife photography is to be able to eventually create more artistic representations of what I see, rather than simply technically correct recordings of natural history as it were.

Not sure if this would be an improvement or not, but something tells me if this were mine I might try to completely desaturate the tree, making it virtually black, as I think this image might possibly work even better as a complete silhouette.

I still like this as is, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your creative work in time :^)

Kind regards,

Ashley
