The closed bud in the front with the open flower petals splaying out behind it makes for a very pleasing design and comp. The picture overall is great!

Lovely shot. The bud in the foreground and the open petals right behind it really tell the story and you've got just enough DOF to make it work.

Not sure about the black BG in the upper left corner, Bill, but the BG flower and the bud work very well together.

These are just fabulous studies of the iris you are doing, Bill ! The bud, with its lower part peeking through its sheath, is beautifully captured, and the splay of the petals makes a great backdrop. A lot of thumbs up (smile ) !!

This composition is wonderful and the title fits perfectly. Love the dark blue bud and the paler blue bg. the bud by itself against the soft blur of the far bg would have been nice but the triad of petals in between them adds intrique and impact. Very nicely done
