Castle Mountain

Here is a recent shot from Castle Mountain. The light on the mountain was a tiny bit harsh, and required a fair bit of dodging and burning to settle the contrast down a bit. There are so many nice shots of this place that it's a bit of a struggle to do something original. I have some ideas for when the conditions are just right, but I'm curious how this one resonates with you guys. Thanks for any comments.

This is an intriguing photo. I like the brightness pairing of the rocks poking out of the stream and the mountain and I like the strong contrast on the mountain because it really emphasizes the shapes. I think the bw treatment works especially well there. I do wish that the composition wasn't so centered and that the underwater rocks in the stream were a bit easier to see.

A nice choice for B&W Wayne. The conversion to B&W looks very nice to me. I like the comp overall, but i might experiement with cropping a little off the bottom to see if that aids the comp somewhat. Love the fog on the left side along the shoreline and the majesty of the peaks.

I really like your choice of foreground here. Not only is it unique (to what I've seen), it also works really nicely. My only wish would be for the foreground to be a little more prominent (a bit closer) in the scene. Of course I wasn't there so I don't know if that was possible - it already looks like you were standing in the ice cold water.

I like that you've appeared to have shot this from in the water. I like the angle looking towards the trees and mountain from the water. I like the pattern and shapes of the underwater rocks, but I feel the very bright rocks poking above the surface are far too bright. I agree with Mark in that I would like to see more contrast and clarity in the underwater rocks, which have a lot of pattern appeal for me. It looks like you've done a nice job controlling the bright light on the bg mountains, and I like fog drifting in from the left. The b/w conversion is quite nice, albeit a little greyish overall imho.
