Support Our Lands

The ubiquitous folded ribbon appears everywhere these days for just about everything but I have never seen one asking for supporting our natural lands. Strange that I would find Mother Nature herself displaying a ribbon at Point Lobos State Reserve. At least that is what came to mind when I happened upon this scene.

Please forgive me for not being very active here lately, in fact I have had very little time to actually get out and do some photography for myself. So it is nice to be able to share something once again.

Taken digitally with several frames stacked for more DOF. Also taken on the 4x5 which will be back sometime.

Your comments, critiques and suggestions appreciated.

A unique shot Youssef. I love the patterns in the FG rock, and the "ribbon" is neat too. What the heck is it made of?

Wonderful find and thought Youssef! Besides that, I love the patterns and shapes of the foreground rock.

The fg is extremely interesting and I really like the composition. The sea stacks/rocks in the background are really dark though. It looks as if you should open the shadows up on them quite a bit. I think it would balance out the scene much better...

Youssef,

Very clever as this definitely resembles a ribbon of support. For me though, I wish it weren't there as I think the image would be stronger without it. Serendipitous for sure, just not that attractive, IMHO.

Looks like a grad was used as well and I think the light balance top to bottom is a little off. Wish I had better to offer.

The foreground rock formation is outstanding and the composition works fine. The "ribbon" (whatever it is) is interesting, but overpowering. Would like to see this W/O the ribbon and maybe bring out some details in the shadows in the midground.

This is delightful Youssef. I have always loved pictures that have a concept or idea behind them and this one is a good example of it. It makes the depicted scene so much more interesting to me. I wouldn't change a thing.
