Shot on the Anhinga Trail in the Everglades. A lot of the birds on the trail are very willing subjects. Again all comments on the image are welcome and wanted.

Wonderful image. Nice detail and lighting. My only nit is the little speck near its eye other than that fabulous pic.

Nice detailed closeup Rich, I do find the OOF water plants around the beak and at the top of the photo to be a little distracting and would suggest cloning them out. The plants in the lower part of the photo I like and would definitely keep, other than that, to me this is a fine portrait.

Exquisite detail and nice lighting on this portrait. Plants don't bother me in this nice shot. Sharon

Richard,

I've seen the little speck of light occur when the sun is at an angle that causes the light to go through the clear part of the eye in my own images so for me that isn't a bother because it happens naturally. I like the profile of the bill along with the natural colors and setting. I do wish the eye was turned a little more towards the viewer.

Richard, very nice detail and color on this profile shot! My only nit, is also the plants in the BG are just a tad distracting because they intersect with the beak. I might have used a much larger ap instead of f/11 to get more bokeh..maybe f/5.6. I think you stil would have had plenty of DOF to get the heron's head all sharp since it is a side view.
