A Nuthatch, have photgraphed many but never seen one with the feathers like this before

Never seen that either... makes for a very interesting image that is nicely composed... like it.

Only minor point is that the brighter part of the prech centre/bottom draws the eye a little, not a deal breaker though, maybe just tone it down a tad.

Not my favrorite pose of a Nuthatch but yes the feathers, maybe part of there breeding plumage. Not to say its a very clean shot.
