Canon 7D, Canon 500mm f4 & Canon 1.4X Extender.
Gitzo 1548/Arca B1, Remote release.

1/40 sec @ f5.6, ISO 200, Full frame.
Levels, hue/saturation.

Hi,

I had a magical encounter with this buck just as the sun was setting.
The shutter speed was a little on the low side so I had my fingers crossed all the way home that the shots would come out sharp enough. Thankfully they did and I got a number of keepers

All comments always welcome and appreciated.

Beautiful detail and awesome framing... the composition works thanks to the angle of the neck that brings the head back across the body. Well done

Great work. - and the light !
I agree with Jules. Not enough regard for natural history or the understanding of the difficulty of photographing it on this forum of late.
- But that subject has popped up before as I recall.

Gorgeous light and showing a lovely sunset reflected in the eye. Superb detail also. I am not as fond of the composition as others sem to be as I feel the lower half of the frame tends to give the deer a slightly 'chunkier' look than I would expect from a Roe. However, that really is nit picking and no doubt personal only to me. I would still love to have taken it (only ever seen them in captivity or from the motorway!).

Fantastic detail and texture, very appealing light and it does fill the frame very well.

Top drawer image Justin. I think the curvature of the neck is very nice and it looks great with the evening light on the neck of the deer. Super.
