Song of the Snowmelt

This is Jonathan run falls in Ohiopyle SP after a few days of nice warm weather last week. All the streams were singing/roaring with the melting snow. I took a number of shots from different angles both frontal and oblique like this one with the late morning sunlight just dawning in the deep gorge and glowing on the falls.

C&C welcome

Canon 50D, 10-22 10mm, f/11 for 1/6s@200

thanks for looking and please check out the larger version for best detail

The mottled light on the falls was a bonus, directs my attention straight to them. I also like your composition as the diagonal placement of the snow on the right draws me in.

The main waterfall with the streaks in there is wonderful. I also like the action in the foreground water. The snow block on the right as well as the big rock wall - I'm not sure. It fells a little too blocky and not very aesthetical. But that's just me. I might have tried a vertical shot with just the waterfall and a bit more foreground as an alternative.

The waterfall and light looks fantastic. I also like the foreground water alot. My feelings on the snow and wall on the right side go along with Andreas's thoughts. Was just looking at the large version and that is really nice. Amazing how much difference that can make. I like it Robert.

The waterfall and the turbulent water in the foreground make a great composition. I also find the block of snow on the right disturbing and I don't like that feeling because it belongs there.

Robert,

I think this is excellent. Very well thought out composition and you've handled the light, color and processing quite well too. What I like about the composition is first of all, you stepped out of the box and found something different instead of "head on." It works nicely that the falls start to appear to run out of the frame, but the river sweeps the viewer right back around to the right and I find the image has a nice flow to it for the eye.

Can't think of any suggestions to offer. Nice work.
