Greater Roadrunners

I've been watching these two Roadrunners for the past week building a nest just outside of the front door of my house. During mating, the male first shows up with a gift for the female. (She doesn't actually get the gift until they're finished though.) I just happened to look outside and this was the scene. Fortunately my camera was sitting right there.

Something a little different from you and it's stunning. Only nit is the light reflectin off the vegetation I presume behind the female roadrunner...

The blues on the underside of the "gift" are an excellent touch and the framing is superb

Spectacular, Charlie! The story-line of his "dinner and a movie" offering is beautifully presented. Love it.

Awesome!

I've never seen them in any stage of mating. What a treat to see it; what a feat to get a great image of it happening.

Would be a great shot eevn without the behavioural aspect Charlie. Love the blue on the lizard. Also looks like a great yard.

wow--cool yard birds, Charlie, and a great shot! the lizard is a great extra touch. I'd think about toning down the bright spot behind the female's wing and perhaps the brightest part of the foreground.

Charlie, this is wonderful capture of animal behavior to guarantee continuation of the specie. This is the same tactic I used with my first wife but to be honest after presenting her with the third lizard everything started going "downhill!" :toast: :toast: :toast:

Superb shot- great private moment, awesome details and BG- maybe I'd try to darken a bit the highlights, but it is a wonderful image anyway- well done, Fabio

GRRROAN.... I can't even FIND a roadrunner, and you get 2 mating, with lizard and right outside your door.
Admit it..these are really stuffed toys you found, right?
Seriously... just an extraordinary image. My only suggestion would be to darken the bright ground a little, as well as that bright spot behind the female.

Outstanding. I love everything here and the blue on the underside of the lizard is terrific.

Very cool photo Charlie. The couple is pretty fantastic, the lizard puts it over the top for sure. Looks like challenging light but I think you handled it expertly. :toast:
