Come On
by Raymond D Smith
Its not often that when the lake has frozen that it isn't snow covered. We had such a precipitation free start to the winter that for a few weeks there was no snow on the ice and I managed to find this interesting ice crack, all I had to do was get some interesting light to go with it. Well this is all I got after a few visits, it lasted all of 5 minutes, fleeting at best. It seems to be a trend in my part of the world that the light looks best about an hour or two before sunset then about 15 to 30 minutes before, a layer of clouds rob me of the best light. I guess that's why I keep coming back and back and back...... I feel blessed to just have managed to get this short moment of light on silicon.
The capture was ETTR and the raw was double processed for the tree line. Tony Kuypers masks and actions were used to blend the two together along with luminosity dodging and burning. I feel like the foreground could have been a little simpler and wished the sky was less busy. I am wondering if everything looks cohesive here and that the colours look good. No saturation was added in the raw processing only through TK's saturation masks. This is about the 7th version so I am a little sick of looking at it and need everyone's opinions please.
Canon 5D 17mm iso 100 1/5 sec. Thanks for any and all C&C
