Hosta flower

I collect hostas (I have about 70 varieties). They are grown more for their variety of foliage but their blossoms can look nice too. This one had a baby mantis visitor after the rain shower.

86mm at F/4.4 for 1/125 sec. ISO 200

The colors and the dof are good. I am trying to decide if the comp would be better with the open flower or without it. It may just be my opinion. The open flower just seems a little low for a center of interest. My eye does not seem to know where to look for be drawn to. Again it might just be me.

Carolyn: Welcome to the finest Flora gallery on the planet and thanks for a terrific first post here. I had to look for the party crasher but it is a nice complementary element. I really like your DOF management and the comp. Great to have you aboard and looking forward to more.>=))>

Beautifully done Carolyn. Outstanding image for my tastes. Welcome to the gallery. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

I see Richard's point and I think that would be an interesting variant but this comp works for me.

Gorgeous! Great job holding the whites, and the mantis and droplets put this over the top!

I like the placement of the open flower in the lower left as it seem to provide a base for the height of the rest of the plant. My favorite part of this image, aside from the raindrops, is the subtle shades of color. Nice stuff.
