Westwind -- Watercolor

This is a "computer watercolor" version of an image I just posted in the Flora Gallery. I wanted to capture the feel of the wind, but retain a hint of the rippled texture of the snow.

Canon 50D
Sigma 150 mm. Macro
1/200 sec. @ f/6.3; ISO 200
Tripod with home-made frisbee snowshoes
Watercolor effect in Topaz Simplify; Then tweaked details and reduced saturation.

These both work well. This is perhaps a more artistic interpretation and painterly, but the other one works equally well as a straight shot.

I think both versions are beautiful. I like the detail in the Flora Gallery version and the soft painterly look of the watercolor version. If I had to pick a favorite it would be the watercolor version.

nice job, Wayne, the simplicity works. I prefer this version for some reason.

Success on both goals. Very nice application of the filter. Minimal. Beautiful.

Simple, elegant...but I like the Flora version.

Wayne: The color of the snow gives this one a slight edge over the Flora version for me. My only suggestion for this one would be to make all the blemishes in the snow disappear. Superb creation.>=))>

This has a simple but elegant feel to it, conveying movement very well.
