Grey Fantail

This young Grey Fantail plunked down right in front of me in early morning gloom in north-eastern Victoria. I blazed away with the previous days camera settings and somehow managed this image amongst many with motion blur.

Canon 7D, EF500 f/4 + 1.4x, tripod, ISO800, f/7.1, 1/20, neat image NR applied to background, full frame.

Nice one Simon particularly for 1/20th. Nice to know someone else does it too. The bird has turned nicely for you.

cheers

that's seriously dark, Simon, congrats on getting this guy to hold still for 1/20! very sharp, nice perch, and nice light in the eye.

Zowie...don't think I've seen a shot so sharp at that SS. Such a terrific pose from this guy too...very nice.

Thats so sharp for a 1/20th so big congrats on that, I once ruined 4GB's of Barn Owl shots because I forgot to check my settings, I was well gutted  Nice work, Simon.

Great detail and nice pose Simon. What a bonus having this full frame. I really like the OOF tree in the background, it gives the image a painting like appearence. :toast:

Wonderful detail and pose, Simon. I've certainly been the victim of left-over camera settings! Luckily, even the flightiest birds will hold still for a second now and then. :toast:
